consistency with grace

Discipline and consistency have been two themes in my life I've struggled with quite a bit.

Even on this journey developing my online business, I expect myself to stick to a schedule, and have a really hard time being kind to myself when I inevitably don't stick to it 100%.

Posting on social media daily...

Sending this newsletter every Wednesday (before midnight)...

Showing up to my laptop to work everyday my son is at school...

I have failed at doing all of those things 100% of the time.

Thanks to all the inner work I have done, I'm able to recover much faster now than in the past. But there's still a layer of guilt, and feeling like a failure, even if I am kinder to myself about it.

So when I was listening to a random podcast I found Monday night, I was delighted to hear the host say something I've never heard before:

She was saying that one thing she is really good at is consistency. "Good for her" I thought, with the tiniest tinge of envy.

But then, she followed it up with the idea that she views her ability to be consistent over a longer period of time. Not the daily expectations set by our stressed-out, hyper-productive world.

Her guest emphasized, being consistent over the course of 5 years, even if it's not EVERY SINGLE DAY, is much more powerful than being able to do something daily for just a month.

It was EXACTLY the medicine I needed to hear.

Medicine is not just a pill or potion. It can be as simple as listening to that inner pull to turn off Netflix while you're folding laundry, browse YouTube instead, and click on a podcast you've never seen or heard of before because something about it just called to you.

I've embarked on enough crazy adventures in my life to know that the path is never linear. There will always be learning curves, and some are steeper than others.

But as long as we keep coming back to our commitment, then that's what matters.

As I heard Tony Robbins once say, we vastly OVERestimate what we can do in a week or month, and then we vastly UNDERestimate what we can do in a decade (I'm paraphrasing, but you get the idea).

So wherever you are on your journey of starting something new, or keeping up a practice of any sort, remember that humans live for decades, not days.

If you fall off the wagon, or fail today, be kind to yourself. Give yourself the time you need to recover. Then, get back to it.

Try. Mess up. Brush it off. Learn. Repeat.

That's sustainable resilience. Simple, long-term consistency.

Happy Wednesday (long before midnight!!!!!!).

Love,

Pri

While Miami's heat can be unbearable at times, I love this time of year for one particular reason: tropical fruit season!!! Of course, mangoes, lychees, and watermelon are deliciously sweet and juicy, but beyond that, nature provides us with exactly what we need for each season. Isn't it amazing how during the hottest times of the year when we need the most hydration, nature provides us with fruits that are almost bursting with water? This is one of the simplest ways to move towards living a...

you are your own best healer

The idea that the capacity to heal lies with others is perhaps the most dangerous misconception perpetuated by the mainstream medical industry. So why has every civilization had some kind of healer / shaman / medicine (wo)man? Because a healers job is to help remove any obstructions that are preventing your body from healing itself. That's it. Our bodies are infinitely wise, and capable of restoring balance. This is why sleep is THE BEST medicine. Laughter comes in at a close second. Even in...

looking within

When we've been walking down a different path for a long time, we sometimes forget how far we've come. The same way it sometimes feels like we've blinked and 10 years just flew by. Poof! Ever had that feeling? Today I was able to connect with a friend who saw one of my posts and was suspicious about how I could honestly claim to teach such a subjective experience: understanding and accessing one's intuition. Being constantly bombarded by influencers and snake oil salesmen promising to solve...
